Flexible multimethod approach for seismic site characterization

چکیده
Abstract We describe the flexible multimethod seismic site characterization technique for obtaining shear-wave velocity ( V S ) profiles and derivative information, such as time-averaged of upper 30 m S30 ). Simply stated, approach relies on application multiple independent noninvasive acquisition analysis techniques utilized in a field-based through decision process based primary factors investigator’s available equipment, field logistics (e.g., array deployment space, urban versus rural), geologic setting, funding among other factors. In approach, sites ideally should be characterized using both active passive (i.e., no drilling only minimal disturbance to ground surface) methods. Almost without exception, we recommend use at least one active-source analyzing surface waves, which current state practice would include or more following: spectral waves (SASW; commonly Rayleigh waves) multichannel (MASW; and/or Love waves). addition, passive-source microtremor methods (MAMs) linear (one-dimensional) two-dimensional arrays may appropriate even required characterizing given site. Similarly, horizontal-to-vertical ratio (mHVSR) method thacan valuable identifying shallow rock sites. Finally, P- SH-wave refraction warrant consideration, especially shallow-rock

An Improved Method for Seismic Site Characterization with Emphasis on Liquefaction Phenomenon
Iran is an active seismic region. Earthquake damage is commonly controlled by three interacting factors including source and path characteristics, local geological and geotechnical conditions and type of the structures. Obviously, all of this would require analysis and presentation of a large amount of geological, seismological and geotechnical data. In this paper, nonlinear geotechnical seismi...

متن کاملA goal programming approach for fuzzy flexible linear programming problems
We are concerned with solving Fuzzy Flexible Linear Programming (FFLP) problems. Even though, this model is very practical and is useful for many applications, but there are only a few methods for its situation. In most approaches proposed in the literature, the solution process needs at least, two phases where each phase needs to solve a linear programming problem. Here, we propose a method t...
متن کاملCombining Induction Methods with the Multimethod Approach
The aggressive rate of growth of disk storage and, thus, the ability to store enormous quantities of data have far outpaced our ability to process and utilize that. This challenge has produced a phenomenon called data tombs—data is deposited to merely rest in peace, never to be accessed again. But the growing appreciation that data tombs represent missed opportunities in cases supporting scient...
متن کاملA NEW APPROACH FOR EVALUATION OF SEISMIC SLOPE PERFORMANCE
The evaluation of seismic slope performance during earthquakes is important, because the failure of slope (such as an earth dam, natural slope, or constructed earth embankment) can result in significant financial losses and human. It is important, therefore, to be able to forecast such displacements induced by earthquake. However, the traditional forecasting methods, such as empirical formulae,...
